Every now and again, we get the opportunity to meet uniquely special people doing phenomenal things. Recently, one of our Technical Sales Professionals had the pleasure of working with the great folks at Mercy Ships.

Who is Mercy Ships?

Mercy Ships is a global charity that was founded in 1978 by Don and Deyon Stephens. Since that time, Mercy Ships has performed services valued at more than $1 billion, impacting more than 2.48 million of the world’s most desperate people. We have completed more than 581 port visits in 57 nations.

We use hospital ships to transform lives and serve nations one at a time. A ship is the most efficient platform to deliver a state-of-the-art-hospital to regions where clean water, electricity, medical facilities and skilled personnel is limited to nonexistent. And because more than 75% of the world’s population lives within 100 miles of a port city, a hospital ship can reach many people who need care.

If you visit their website, you will see that their mission and values align well with many of the most caring and selfless people/organizations out there.

Providing solutions

Because of the urgent nature of their issues, we worked quickly to provide a solution.  With the ships charging operational again, the next concern was to ensure that future issues did not cause delays in what they do best – helping others.

A program of parts reserve was recommended and implemented.  With the expert guidance of our technical professionals at Power Storage Solutions, the folks at Mercy Ships also received instruction on how to best utilize the parts in the field.  Should they have issues in the future; however, we are only a phone call or email away.

Whether it be at work, or leisure, it is these chance encounters that bring enlightenment and awareness of the great things that are going on around us every day.

We just thought you would all want to know about this wonderful organization – take the time visit their website, like them on Facebook and assist where you can.
