Payton Besherse!

Payton is our very talented Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Manager based out of our Dallas office.

• How long have you worked in the industry and how long have you been with us?
  • I’ve been in this industry for about 2 years since I started with Power Storage Solutions in October 2022. I had no prior experience in the backup power business, but I’m happy to be here!
• Where did you grow up and where are based now?
  • I grew up in a small town called Kaufman, TX. After my freshman year of high school I moved to Terrell, TX and received my diploma. I’m currently based in DFW. 
• Tell us about your educational background, family life, and hobbies outside of work.
  • I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Tarleton State University in 2017. From there, I began working in the autism field providing ABA therapy to children from ages 18 months to 18 years old. This position eventually led me to pursue a career in education. I began teaching high school social studies just before COVID hit in 2020, and taught until the end of the 2022 school year. During this time, I also taught teachers online how to improve their lessons or classroom management practices while working on my masters. This is where my love for social media, marketing, and content creation was birthed. I had originally interviewed with Power Storage Solutions for an HR position, but management decided I would be a better fit in a part-time marketing role. I have to admit, they were right! I have enjoyed putting my skills and knowledge to the test while helping the company grow. In May of 2023, I graduated with a Masters of Science in Human Resources and I was officially brought on full-time with Power Storage Solutions in January of 2024. In my free time, I enjoy reading, attending music festivals, or traveling. 
• What are 3 words that describe you?
  • Ambitious
  • Analytical
  • Particular 
• Before working at Power Storage Solutions, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
  • I worked at Sonic Drive-In for like 4-5 years while in high school and my early college days. This was before they had the option to tip on a credit card. Writing that made me feel ancient (I’m 27), but sometimes I think about all the money I lost out on when customers couldn’t tip because they only had a card. It’s so crazy to see how fast technology has advanced just since I was a teenager. On another note, my favorite Sonic drink is a large cherry vanilla coke with a splash of sweet cream OR a peach cream slush. If you haven’t tried those, you need to! 
• Tell us about one of your biggest successes with a customer and/or within the organization.
  • When I first started with PWRSS, we didn’t have much an online presence and we weren’t very consistent with our branding. I’m happy to write that in just a little over a year, we have grown our LinkedIn page to over 1,000 followers (and counting) with a consistent social media strategy. I’ve also streamlined how our brand is represented with marketing materials, presentations, tradeshows, etc. Naturally, this had led to an increase in leads and revenue generated. I’m thrilled with the progress we’ve made, but I am nowhere near finished! We have some amazing things coming in 2025 so stay tuned!
• How have you grown professionally since becoming part of the Power Storage Solutions Team?
  • I’ve struggled terribly with anxiety for most of my life, but specifically workplace anxiety. I used to have this daunting feeling that whenever something went wrong, it would always be my fault. Let’s be honest, we’ve all had a boss who didn’t train well or take accountability for their actions which resulted in less-than-desirable consequences. Those types of bosses tend to make the working environment less than pleasant, so naturally you always feel the need to CYA or defend yourself to keep your job. Power Storage Solutions has been the opposite of that kind of environment for me. When I have made mistakes, I’ve always been met with compassion and a lesson on how to prevent that same mistake from happening again. This combined with increased autonomy has allowed the fear of failure to dissipate  substantially and I don’t have much workplace anxiety anymore. In fact, I’d say my confidence in myself and my skillset have grown tremendously just over the last year. For that, I am incredibly thankful for. 
• What is your favorite part about working for Power Storage Solutions?
  • My answer is definitely going to differ from any of my coworkers, because I have a pretty unique role within the company. I am currently a one-woman marketing team, which gives me a ton of creative freedom and autonomy when prioritizing tasks/projects. I’m able to bounce from one task/project to another throughout the day and I’m in a position to make key decisions with a big impact. Coming from a field like education where the work load is so heavy with very little flexibility, it’s such a refreshing position to be in. I also love the people I work with. There is never I time that I’ve gone into the office and someone hasn’t put a smile on my face or vice versa. Anyone is willing to drop what they’re doing to help and may even teach you a lesson if you need it. Shoutout to Hazelina, Elaine, and Derrick for always keeping spirits bright and keeping me in line!
